What is Nordic Walking?

One of my classes Nordic Walking around the National Botanic Garden of Wales

I've had everything from "I don't need poles yet" to "Where's the Snow?" to "It's too energetic for me".

The reality is that Nordic Walking can be whatever you want it to be.

It really is more than just walking.

But the great thing is that it is based on conventional walking so it really is so accessible for so many of us!

And you don’t need snow- it can be done on a variety of terrains all year round.

Utilising specialised Nordic Walking poles (yes they are different - find out more here) Nordic Walking actively uses the poles give a full body workout. In fact- we use 90% of the body’s muscles! However, to get the most out of Nordic Walking it’s important to have the correct technique. I am a British Nordic Walking qualified instructor. British Nordic Walking certified instructors are the only ones based in the UK that can teach the internationally recognised INWA 10 Step Method.

Better technique - better benefits.

And it doesn’t stop there. One of the things I am most passionate about is promoting not just the physical benefits of Nordic Walking. There are huge mental and wellbeing benefits too.

Enjoying a Nordic Walk with one of my classes at the National Botanic Garden of Wales

Win win I’d say!

If you have landed on my blog and are not near West Wales where I run my classes- you can find local British Nordic Walking instructors here. If you have any corporate booking enquiries please do email me on nordicymru@outlook.com as I do run these in various locations.
